Pediatric Dentistry Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry. A pediatric dentist is a dental specialist dedicated to the oral health of children, form infancy through early adulthood. Children have unique dental needs, both behavioral and developmental. The pediatric dentist is best qualified to meet those needs. Pediatric dentists complete two to three years of additional specialty training after completing four years of dental school. This post-graduate course of study concentrates on those issues particular to children: growth and development, child psychology, preventive and restorative techniques particular to this age group, pharmacology, medically compromised patients, conscious sedation, and general anesthesia. Additionally, we are trained and qualified to meet the dental needs of individuals who are either mentally or physically challenged. |
